I think we overdid it on Day 2. My feet are killing me from so much walking! But it was all worth it. We started the day exchanging currency. We brought cash with us. Banks typically offer better exchange rates than the small exchange kiosks. Looks like travelers checks would have given an additional advantage.
First stop was Roppongi. We intended on going to Muji but they were closed. So instead we bought a department store bento and had a very yummy lunch. Walked around a bit and got a good view of Tokyo tower in the distance.
Next stop was Shibuya. My travel buddy needed an extra layer – it was really cold. So we knew that Uniqlo would have something guaranteed. And they did. In fact we walked out with 3 big shopping bags!!! We made sure to visit Hachiko. He is so cute. What devotion.
We will be back to Shibuya. This was just a tease. So much more shopping to do. Come on feet you can make it. がんばれ.
Our charming summer intern brought in a box of Financier Patisserie Macarons the other day. She was already winning our hearts as she has been a life saver on an insanely complicated project. This cemented our debt to her.
The macarons are lovely. They have the perfect balance of crunch, nice proportion of filling, and are not overly sweet. They are also gluten free, a plus. A box of 15 runs $20 which is reasonably priced as far as macarons go.
Need a afternoon pick me up? Stop by any of their dozen or so locations across NYC.

In a random Google search for macaron clipart came upon the most awesome Photoshop and graphic design freebies by Pugly Pixel.
First up, a free download of the macaron PNG files collection. Exactly what I was looking for to have a little puri kura fun. Finished alterations on a Bodyline macaron skirt this morning. That is what lead to having macarons on the brain. After downloading and playing with the PNG files figured I would see what else was there.
Pugly Pixel has a ton of Photoshop brushes, textures, and more. My download folder is full of a lot of goodies yet to be unziped. They also had a link out to Nadine Pau’s Lace Brushes. As you must know by now, I love to sew. So finding adorable lace brushes stuffed my download folder further.
All of that was then blended with a sweet little free app called Xiamen Meitu Technology Co. It has a few kawaii frames and filters. Put all of the above together and here is the result:
So if you are looking for a little design bling to spice up your photos or blog – I HIGHLY recommend Pugly Pixel. Check em out!!
